Mallorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands and offers superb air and ferry connections, with the airport located just 8km away from the city. The capital, Palma de Mallorca, has a population of approximately 420.000 and is dominated by the Gothic cathedral. One of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe the island is well known for its beautiful beaches and transparent waters, but it also offers stunning scenery and hiking possibilities in the 90km long Serra de Tramontana mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Transport
A taxi from the airport to the city centre costs approximately 15€ and the city is also connected by bus route A1 which costs 5€. Within the city the public transportation network includes buses for Palma (EMT) and buses serving the rest of the island (TIB) as well as a metro line and trains to Inca, Sa Pobla and Manacor.
